HOOBOX Robotics is a São Paulo-based company founded in 2016, after the postdoctoral research of Dr. Paulo Gurgel Pinheiro (Co-Founder and CEO), who developed a high-precision software to capture human facial expressions.
Along with Cláudio Pinheiro (Co-founder and COO) and Prof. Dr. Eleri Cardozo, HOOBOX started to develop the first ever computer program capable of translating facial expressions into commands to control a wheelchair. Today, HOOBOX's team consists of engineers, scientists, doctors, and physical therapists passionate about innovation.
In 2018, the startup moved to Houston to be incubated at JLABS@TMC (Johnson & Johnson innovtion lab) as part of its internationalization process.
We believe we can take advantage of a people's best abilities to counteract their own limitation, not only improving mobility and autonomy, but also enhancing self-esteem.
